Surfing is a lifetime endeavour. The unique thing about surfing is that it takes so long to learn, and a lifetime to master. Your ability is something to keep tabs on when you’re choosing the next challenge to tackle. There are so many moving parts to the sport, and the idea is that you connect yourself to a wave, as it breaks. Types of wave, water, speed, barrels, sections, rips, currents, sand, reefs, and everything else comes into play here. It’s always moving, changing and it’ll always be there to surprise and challenge you.

That’s why deciding where to surf depends a lot on your ability, and is something that we aim to improve on when we offer help with this question. You’ll need to decide what the right amount of challenge is for your comfort zone. But remember, you need some to improve.
